Windows 7 Cheaper Then Vista

I have been reading some reports the Microsoft’s latest operating system on offer Windows 7 is going to be on sale October 2009 and the pricing is a complete shock it’s going to be cheaper then Vista and so the pricing is as follows

Upgrade pricing:

  • Home Premium $199
  • Professional $399
  • Ultimate $429

Full Version pricing

  • Home Premium $299
  • Professional $449
  • Ultimate $469

I personally love the new OS I am currently running it on my Intel P4 system and it’s running nicely only draw back is my Graphics Card which is not up to the standards which kind of sucks mostly only because of the Drivers that are not being made for Windows 7 which is ok it’s an older card so yea not a major problem I can still do all my normal every day tasks.

Windows Vista’s press was not very good and well I myself did not like Vista at all it was very clogged and had it’s issues the look was nice but over all performance was just rubbish.

With Windows 7 arriving this year Microsoft are offering free upgrades to the equivelant of Windows Vista so for instance if you have Vista Home you get the free upgrade to Windows 7 Home and so on however it is only with systems that have Windows Vista pre-installed and can be redeemed when Windows 7 comes out October 22nd which is not very far off.

The look and feel of Windows 7 is so much better to Vista it’s much cleaner and light weight to Vista in regards to theme.

The one thing I really like about the Windows 7 look is that you no longer have long bars down the bottom of the Taskbar however you have “Icons” which gives you more space to roam free etc and also the effect of Previewing a window to see what is happening without oppening it fully.

I myself personally will be buying Windows 7 when it comes out with the expection of a bit more hardware upgrades.

Big-screen support

Large, high-definition displays are much better catered for in Windows 7. First, there’s no more fiddling around in the Control Panel to make your desktop appear on an external display – pressing Windows + P brings up a pop-up menu with options to duplicate, extend or transfer your desktop on to the second screen.

Nag-free System Tray

Your antivirus software is out of date! Wireless networks detected! The woman at number 43 has just turned on her oven! Vista’s System Tray spewed out so many pop-up warnings that you couldn’t see the wood for the trees. Windows 7’s revamped System Tray, on the other hand, has been blissfully gagged.

Location-aware printing

Anyone used to ferrying a laptop between work and home will be familiar with the tedium of thoughtlessly pressing <Ctrl+P> in the office, only to find Word struggling to find the home inkjet that’s set as default. In Windows 7, the PC automatically detects when you’re at home and at work when you connect to the network, and automatically selects the relevant printer. It’s the little things…

UAC silencer

Windows chief Steven Sinofsky has admitted that Vista’s User Account Control had proved as popular as the village serial killer. The show-stopping interruptions are now completely under user control, with a sliding scale of UAC setting that ranges from turning the security “feature” off completely, to notifications every time a piece of software raises an eyebrow at your settings.

I can’t wait another update to yet an another update to a great peice of Blogging Software.

Trapster + GPS Tracker

It has been a while since i posted so thought id post about a couple of things..

Recently i come across 2 peices of software for the Blackberry (also for iPhone and Nokia phones) 1 of which is called Trapster and what this little beauty does it that it warns you of Speed Traps, Live Police Cameras, Speed Cameras, etc and warns when you get within 1km of the Speed Trap etc or you can set it up to look further ahead warning you sooner.

Trapster is a free appliction for the Blackberry, iPhone and Nokia and any java-j2me enabled phones however no way of knowing if it works till you try it.

To use Trapster you need to have a GPS Enabled Phone oh and also an Unlimited Data Plan with your Service Provider so you wont get yourself into a pickle with a huge phone bill.

I have used Trapster for a while now and i have to say it’s worth it’s weight and well being free why not.

Trapster is a program that allows you also to pin point a Speed Trap etc and upload it so when other people who have this software installed will be able to also see were the Speed Camera etc is and also they can too give the OK that the Speed Camera is there basically telling everyone that a few people have seen it and so it makes it stand out more so to speak the more rankings it gets the more Confidence which is a good thing.

BlackBerry Users click here iPhone Users click here Nokia Users and others click here Android and Windows Mobile users are not yet supported at this time however there coming out with the applications soon 🙂

Ok now to the GPS Tracker finally lol…

GPS Tracker is an application from InstaMapper a service that lets you track your location Live! which means that your friends and family can see where you are and so it can help you see how far away they from you but also to the point also if you phone is stolen it tracks the location via GPS and uploads the location live to the website so you can see were the phone is located within a 3 metre radious it also runs in the background on bootup (Blackberry) so when the phone is turned on it will transmit as long as the person who has it doesn’t turn the phone off.

What InstaMapper also does it records your location every minute or less so you can look at the exact location you started form and where you ended up this way you can look the where you went and possibly look at better ways/shortcuts perhaps.

BlackBerry Users click here iPhone Users click here Android Users click here Motorola iDEN Users click here

The Motorola iDEN is a phone that could be more suited to be permanently connected in the car so that it never leaves the car it’s one way to track the car also.

Both these applications come in very handy when you want to track you route and also to see if a Speed Camera is active on that route.

Both applications are 100% free and so easy to use.

Trapster have some video’s on YouTube check them out here

Give them a go and see what you think let them know or post a comment here also 🙂
