Another Reason Blackberry Is Better

Ok so this is not meant to bash iPhone users or lovers etc but this is to prove that Blackberry has better security over the iPhone making it better for anyone who wants to be safe.

Read this report on a few of the phones in this report aptly the iPhone that got extremely bad in Security were as the Blackberry got 4 out of 4 for Security and how secure it is over the iPhone and other phones.

Now like i said this is not bashing iPhone users however just shows even though Apple deny users ability to install “Unapproved” applications so unless it has been approved you cannot install it or run it with the Blackberry there is no problem.

Even though the Blackberry is open source for many to make applications for the Blackberry series of phones there is some background to this.

Even when the phone is open if in anyway shape or form the OS is hacked or modified the phone will not boot regardless this means any attempt to as the iPhone community does “Jail Break” you wont be able to boot the phone.

The report can be found here

Ok so it comes down to this.. the iPhone is better at being a Media Device over the Blackberry which is more a Phone with Security to beat iPhone and there “NO” you cannot run Unapproved Apps on your phone.

I have thought it through many a times and this just shows for me id rather stick with my Blackberry Bold over any iPhone out there.

iPhone Likes and Dislikes

Ok so we all know now the iPhone 3GS is available to buy outright or go onto a 2 year contract with any provider well not any whoever sells the new iPhone 3GS

Some things I like about iPhone 3GS are

  1. 3MP Camera with Video Recording and Video Editing
  2. GPS Maps uses the new App Compass to move in the direction you are travelling
  3. Find your iPhone which is nice to have incase it is lost and the ability to whipe the phone at a command

Some things i extremely hate

  1. No emails come through unless you “Pull” them manually meaning you have to do it every time you want to check for emails.
  2. You have to have a subscription to MobileMe in order to have your Contacts, Calendar, Emails to be able to Sync and have push email this is extremely annoying and it’s not worth the $100 or more to pay for it
  3. You can’t run Third party apps unless the apps been approved by Apple seriously annoying unless you Jail Break the iPhone which from my understanding voids the warranty another joke
  4. You cannot run applications in the background once you go back to the home screen you exit the application all together this gets really annoying

Now mind you there are things i like about the iPhone and some i dislike very much as you can tell from the list above.

I own a Blackberry Bold and it has 10 emails coming through without a glitch or need to subscribe to a service like MobileMe it’s included in the $99 cap i am on and i mean come on $119 just to have MobileMe what a joke

Ok so what are your likes about the iPhone 3G and 3GS models?

Trapster + GPS Tracker

It has been a while since i posted so thought id post about a couple of things..

Recently i come across 2 peices of software for the Blackberry (also for iPhone and Nokia phones) 1 of which is called Trapster and what this little beauty does it that it warns you of Speed Traps, Live Police Cameras, Speed Cameras, etc and warns when you get within 1km of the Speed Trap etc or you can set it up to look further ahead warning you sooner.

Trapster is a free appliction for the Blackberry, iPhone and Nokia and any java-j2me enabled phones however no way of knowing if it works till you try it.

To use Trapster you need to have a GPS Enabled Phone oh and also an Unlimited Data Plan with your Service Provider so you wont get yourself into a pickle with a huge phone bill.

I have used Trapster for a while now and i have to say it’s worth it’s weight and well being free why not.

Trapster is a program that allows you also to pin point a Speed Trap etc and upload it so when other people who have this software installed will be able to also see were the Speed Camera etc is and also they can too give the OK that the Speed Camera is there basically telling everyone that a few people have seen it and so it makes it stand out more so to speak the more rankings it gets the more Confidence which is a good thing.

BlackBerry Users click here iPhone Users click here Nokia Users and others click here Android and Windows Mobile users are not yet supported at this time however there coming out with the applications soon 🙂

Ok now to the GPS Tracker finally lol…

GPS Tracker is an application from InstaMapper a service that lets you track your location Live! which means that your friends and family can see where you are and so it can help you see how far away they from you but also to the point also if you phone is stolen it tracks the location via GPS and uploads the location live to the website so you can see were the phone is located within a 3 metre radious it also runs in the background on bootup (Blackberry) so when the phone is turned on it will transmit as long as the person who has it doesn’t turn the phone off.

What InstaMapper also does it records your location every minute or less so you can look at the exact location you started form and where you ended up this way you can look the where you went and possibly look at better ways/shortcuts perhaps.

BlackBerry Users click here iPhone Users click here Android Users click here Motorola iDEN Users click here

The Motorola iDEN is a phone that could be more suited to be permanently connected in the car so that it never leaves the car it’s one way to track the car also.

Both these applications come in very handy when you want to track you route and also to see if a Speed Camera is active on that route.

Both applications are 100% free and so easy to use.

Trapster have some video’s on YouTube check them out here

Give them a go and see what you think let them know or post a comment here also 🙂
